Aestheticism Hair Show 2012 at Cafe De Paris

International Creative Director George Akkad and Creative Director Andrew Thomas Corbett    Showcase there Avant Garde hair show  titled 'Aestheticism' at Cafe De Paris on Saturday 29th September.

The hair show looks at the power of suggestion rather than a statement celebrating the cult of beauty. Throughout the show life imitates art as sensuality, linking to the Aestheticism manifesto.

Aestheticism began by looking at the inter- relationship of beauty in hair, makeup and fashion with George and Andrew researching heavily the art movement of the same name.
Working with textures, taking inspiration from ropes and nets whilst also looking into Arabic textiles along with local folklore. Exaggerated beauty is the dominant statement in this collection, with the hair reflecting poise and strength. Black clothes resemble divinity found in ancient folklore and legend.
George worked with his team to manifest his concept of 'Total Beauty' which translates easily from image to runway. Set in an Avant Garde aesthetic, the hair transcends structural elegance creating fluid geometry. The pieces were constructed using synthetic hair treated with hairspray creating the nets, twists and basket weave.
Being a creative & visionary to me implies a constant search and desire to create new frontiers with hair. Being receptive to stimuli all around me means I can create freely using hair as my means of expression." states George. This mindset along with the cohesion of products, hair, clothes and makeup makes Aestheticism a powerful collection.

Fashion is Great /BFC men Collection

What fashion week in other major cities around the world is launched by HRH Prince of Wales? What a true honour it was to be part of the fashion elite that were invited to be at that launch.

The brands and designers certainly didn't disappoint. The one show that stood out for me just happened to be the first show of the weekend and it set the standard for the following days. Hackett chose the beautiful Royal Opera House to show a collection ,inspired by The Great Gatsby whilst at the same time being very truly British.

Britain has always been an inspiration with its heritage for tailoring and suits, and although we may not have pulled it off at the football in the the Euros, boy did we show the rest of the fashion weeks how personal tailoring and style can be done.

Black leather HIGH on gothic glamour and rich with suggestion (rebel, vixen, dominatrix...), glossy black leather offers a sleek take on autumn's new decadent air.

Decorative Day Pack out your diary with the smartest of social engagements because the Spring collections ushered in a new wardrobe of whimsical looks designed for the daylight hours.

Top-Notch Trouser FROM second-skin leathers and cigarette pants to tailored strides and slouchy boyfriend styles, trousers ruled the runway this autumn.

The Power Of  Purple  IT is the colour of luxury and passion, of princely robes and papal vestments, dazzling gems and florid prose. And now it's the reigning colour of the season.

Fashion Icon Mary Quant MiniSkirt

Mini Skirt of Mary Quant (Born 11February 1934) is a Welsh fashion designer and British fashion Icon, who was one of the designers who took credit for inventing the miniskirt and hot pants in 1960s. She brought fun and fantasy to fashion and showed  a generations how to dress to please themselves .

Miniskirts had been getting shorter since about 1958. Mary Quant considered to be practical  and liberating ,allowing women the ability to run for a bus. The mini skirt which she is arguably most famous for, became one of the defining fashions of the 1960s. The Miniskirt was developed separately by Andre Courreges the french designer, and there's disagreement as  to who  came up with the idea first like most fashions.
  .
Quant was not afraid of novelty and experimentation . Some of her most popular designs were sweater dresses with plastic collars , balloon -style dresses, and knickerbockers and stretch stockings in all colours and pattems. Other typical designs included knee-length white plastic lace -up boots and tight sweaters in bold stripes.

These clothes become part of the London look.

PSIONICS Show

On Saturday 5th November, I held my latest hair show at the famous London nightclub, Cafe de Paris and it proved to be a truly spectacular evening. The show was based around the theme of PSIONICS, meaning creating an other worldly phenomena with ones own mind and was split into three halves showcasing an array of looks ranging from editorial and Avant Garde.

Dramatic styles and colours took pride of place, with hats made from twisted strands of hair, horns made from plaited hair and a brightly coloured feathered head dress making their way down the runway. The show featured twenty models who all modelled unique hair designs in addition to the Avant Garde garments designed by Gemma Goldstone, VictoriaClare, Kate Williams and Ara Jo (who has designed for Lady Gaga).

The show rivalled any firework display happening in the capital that night and allowed the press and the public the opportunity to preview the next big looks in Avant Garde hairdressing.
